The Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu can assist when a U.S. citizen in Nepal is arrested, missing, a victim of violent crime, becomes ill or dies, or when there is otherwise a need for immediate help. We can assist with information on local resources and by contacting family members in the United States apprised of the circumstances, so that they can make necessary decisions and provide financial and logistical support. Lost or stolen passports can only be replaced during normal office hours.
Appointments for non-emergency services can be made online by clicking here. Once you have made an appointment with the Consular Section, please bring the appointment confirmation printout to the Embassy on the day of the appointment. Appointments cannot be made over the telephone. The Consular Section will accept payment for U.S. citizen services fees in U.S. or Nepali currency as well as internationally recognized credit cards. Credit cards may not be used to pay for visa services.
